reflect, return

reflect, return is a video installation work by Gabby O’Connor, housed at Wellington Railway Station in the site previously occupied by the New World Metro supermarket. Visible to commuters and passers-by, it is a sensory reminder of the historic geography of the site.

Prior to the 1855 earthquake that radically changed the coastline of Wellington harbour, the place that the railway station stands was under water. O’Connor is bringing the harbour back to its former place, overlaying waves and ripples of the harbour waters on the architecture of the station walls.

Visit this work between 31 July and 14 August.
